Regenerative agriculture; Proving sustainability won't hurt profits

Dairy Trust Taranaki have been running a trial to highlight low carbon agriculture. The trial split one farm into two - one for conventional farming practices, and one with 'future' farm practices.


The future farm has 20% less cows on it, and 20% less emissions, yet profitability is almost the same. By now, most of us will have heard about the new requirements from He Waka Eke Noa, where farms in Aotearoa NZ should have their greenhouse emissions documented.


This future farm solution could help farmers adjust to the new requirements, and could be the emissions reduction plan they need whist maintaining profits.
